Council emergency pages

Wyre Forest is a district council in a two-tier area. Worcestershire County Council is the highway authority, so gritting and winter roads are a county service.

Councils announce rest centres, road closures and emergency help on these pages and their social media. Find your council by postcode (GOV.UK).

Power cuts

Report a power cut or check one: call 105 free from any phone, or use the operator’s website.

Local risks and emergency planning

  • Flooding: 12 flood warning areas and 4 flood alert areas overlap the council area (details above).
  • West Mercia Local Resilience Forum publishes a community risk register: the official list of emergencies that planners prepare for here.
  • Hazards the register names include (our grouping of its wording): Flooding; Cyber attacks; Terrorism; Animal disease; Industrial and chemical accidents; Pandemic; Power cuts; Heatwaves; Snow and low temperatures; Public disorder; Storms and severe weather; Loss of water supply; Outbreaks of infectious disease. Open the register for how likely and how serious each one is judged to be.
  • Sandbags and flood help: Sandbags | Wyre Forest District Council (the council’s own page; councils differ on whether they supply sandbags, so check what it says).

We list only what official sources say. We do not rate how safe or risky anywhere is.

How these figures were gathered

  • Council links come from GOV.UK Local Links Manager, the list councils keep for GOV.UK. We opened each one on 2 November 2026; links that no longer worked are left out, and a few council sites blocked our automated check, which is noted beside the link.
  • Area is our measurement of the ONS generalised (clipped to the coastline) boundary, so it can differ slightly from official area figures.
  • A flood area counts as overlapping if at least 1% of it lies inside the council boundary.
  • A&E distances are straight lines from the centre point ONS gives for each built-up area to the centre of the hospital’s postcode. Travel distances and times will be longer.
  • Water resource zones are listed when at least 1% of the council’s area falls inside them. The Environment Agency says the zone map is for mapping only, not for checking a property.
  • Phone and broadband figures are Ofcom’s council-level predictions for January 2026. Mobile coverage uses Ofcom’s signal thresholds; an operator’s network counts if its predicted signal meets them.
  • The hazard list is our grouping of the words the register uses: we list a hazard when its terms appear at least twice in the register’s text. It is not a rating of risk, and the register may cover more.
  • Census figures are planning prompts, not risk scores. The household figure uses 66 and over, as the census tables do.
  • Built-up areas are the largest by land area from ONS Built-up Areas 2022. Flood areas listed under a town are those whose official name includes it; a missing area does not mean a street will not flood.
